These are the personal rules I created after learning difficult lessons through past relationships. They helped me heal, protect my peace, and stop giving emotional access to people who no longer deserved it. They're not rules for everyone. They're simply the rules that changed my life.
Every breakup is different.
Every relationship is different.
Every person heals differently.
The rules you are about to read are not universal truths, legal advice, professional counseling, or relationship instructions.
They are simply one person’s personal philosophy based on their own experiences.
Some people choose forgiveness.
Some choose distance.
Some choose friendship.
Others choose complete separation.
None of these approaches are automatically right or wrong.
Take what helps.
Leave what does not.
Our goal is reflection — not imitation.
“These are their rules. Their experiences. Their lessons.”
These are my rules. They are based on my experiences, values, boundaries, and lessons. They are not relationship commandments for everyone. You do not have to agree with them. I created them because sometimes healing requires more than letting go. Sometimes healing requires boundaries.
Don't call trying to 'check up' on me. You're not a customer service agent, and I'm not a customer. We broke up for a reason.
If you cheat, I won't pretend and tell people we 'mutually drifted apart.' I will drag you to hell and leave you there. Figuratively speaking. You don't get a rewritten ending after writing the story yourself.
Any 'friend' who gets involved in our breakup gets blocked. I'm protecting my peace, not hosting a committee meeting about my relationship.
Don't text me because you're lonely, bored, guilty, or curious. If we're done, we're done. Leave the door closed.
I'm not posting cryptic quotes for you, decoding your stories, or playing emotional hide-and-seek. If you have something to say, you should've said it while we were together.
I don't owe anyone instant forgiveness, friendship, or access while I'm healing. And I don't do closure. If you need closure, go to therapy, book a counseling session, talk to your pastor, or pray about it. Anywhere but near me. My healing is not your final chapter.
You don't get boyfriend or girlfriend privileges after you've resigned from the position. Access is a privilege, not a lifetime subscription.
If I walked away, respect my decision. Don't come back because your other options didn't work out. I'm not your backup plan. If you keep showing up after I've made it clear it's over, don't be surprised if I treat it like harassment. Stop defiling my sight and let me heal in peace.
I'm not trying to 'win' the breakup. My revenge is healing, growing, and becoming someone who no longer settles for less than I deserve.
I may miss the memories, but I'll never forget the lesson. Every relationship either gives me a partner or a life lesson. Either way, I move forward.
“These are my rules. They are based on my experiences, values, boundaries, and lessons. They are not relationship commandments for everyone.”
