Self-Love Reality Check

Do I really love myself?

SELF-LOVE REALITY CHECK

Do I really love myself?

If someone asked you that question, you might laugh.

"Of course I love myself. What kind of question is that?"

And that is exactly where this Reality Check begins.

It is easy to say "I love myself." Anyone can say it.

But saying it and showing it are two very different things.

How do you treat yourself when nobody is watching?

What do you say to yourself when you make a mistake?

How do you speak to yourself when you look in the mirror?

How do you allow other people to treat you?

Do you protect your peace, or do you constantly sacrifice it to keep everyone else happy?

Do you take care of your physical health?

Do you pay attention to your mental and emotional well-being?

Do you rest when you need rest, or do you only give yourself permission to stop when your body forces you to?

Do you honor your body?

Do you respect your own boundaries?

Do you forgive yourself?

Do you make room for joy?

Do you give yourself the same patience, grace and compassion that you readily give to other people?

Because self-love is not just something you say. It is something you practice.

You may begin this Reality Check completely convinced that you love yourself well.

And perhaps you do.

You may go through these questions and think:

"Yep. I am taking care of myself. I am good."

And that is perfectly okay.

But you may also encounter a question that makes you pause.

Hmm.

Maybe I have been neglecting myself.

Maybe I have accepted things I should not have accepted.

Maybe I am much kinder to everyone else than I am to myself.

Maybe I need to start showing myself a little more love.

That is not failure.

That is awareness.

This Reality Check is not here to tell you whether you love yourself enough.

It is here to help you look honestly at how you demonstrate that love.

Because your actions often reveal what your words cannot.

And if you discover that there are parts of you that are not receiving enough good loving, you have a choice.

You can start small.

Buy yourself some flowers, if you enjoy flowers and have no allergies.

Get your favourite drink.

Take yourself somewhere you enjoy.

Buy something new that makes you feel good.

Eat something nourishing.

Take a walk.

Rest.

Write yourself an affirmation.

Put your phone down and give yourself a little quiet.

Do something simply because you deserve to experience something good too.

Self-love does not have to mean spending a lot of money.

Sometimes it is simply choosing not to abandon yourself.

Sometimes it is saying no.

Sometimes it is leaving a situation that keeps hurting you.

Sometimes it is going to bed.

Sometimes it is asking for help.

Sometimes it is looking at yourself honestly and deciding:

"I need to take better care of me."

So welcome to the Self-Love Reality Check.

There are no perfect answers here.

There is only your reality.

Answer honestly.

Not how you wish you treated yourself.

Not how you think you should answer.

How do you actually treat yourself?

Because saying "I love myself" is easy.

Showing yourself that you do is where the real Reality Check begins.
