A Good Friend Will Tell You the Truth

We all enjoy friends who encourage us.

But the friends who change our lives are often the ones willing to challenge us.

Real friendship isn't about agreeing with everything you do.

It's about caring enough to tell you when you're making choices that could hurt you.

Honesty delivered with kindness builds trust.

Silence that allows someone to keep making the same mistakes doesn't.

Of course, there's a difference between criticism and correction.

A good friend doesn't embarrass you.

They don't tear you down.

They speak with love because they want to see you succeed.

If every difficult conversation causes someone to walk away, they may have wanted comfort more than growth.

Surround yourself with people who can celebrate you, encourage you, and lovingly correct you when needed.

Those friendships last.

Word for the Wise: Friends who only applaud you may protect your feelings today. Friends who lovingly tell you the truth may protect your future.
