The Friends Who Only Show Up When They Need Something

Friendship should never feel like a job you work without pay.

If the only time someone reaches out is when they need a favor, advice, money, or emotional support, it's worth asking yourself an uncomfortable question:

Would they still be here if they didn't need anything from me?

Healthy friendships aren't built on convenience. They're built on mutual care.

A true friend doesn't keep score, but they do show up. They celebrate your wins, check in when you're struggling, and make time for you even when they don't need something in return.

One-sided friendships are exhausting because they slowly teach you that your value lies in what you provide rather than who you are.

It's okay to help people.

It's not okay to feel used by them.

The next time someone calls, ask yourself whether they're investing in the friendship or simply withdrawing from it.

Word for the Wise: Don't confuse being useful with being valued. The right friends appreciate your kindness without turning it into an expectation.
