This is not Reddit. This is not a debate forum.
This is not a place to determine who is right or wrong.
It is a respectful community where people can say:
"I have been there."
"This is what happened to me."
"This is what helped me."
"This is what I wish I had known."
"My situation was different, but here is another perspective."
I believe two people can love each other without becoming the same person. I have always felt that having different interests, hobbies, friendships, or even opinions does not automatically mean two people are incompatible. But I have experienced situations where someone expected me to become interested in everything they liked and treated my lack of interest as if it meant I did not care about them. I believe there should be compromise, but I also believe people should be allowed to remain individuals inside a relationship.
I have been in a relationship where I slowly realized that I was doing most of the emotional work. I was usually the one starting difficult conversations, making plans, checking in, trying to resolve disagreements, and finding ways to keep the relationship moving forward. My partner would say they loved me, but their actions did not always match their words. I kept telling myself that relationships are not always 50/50 and that people go through difficult seasons. But eventually I started wondering whether I was being patient or simply carrying a relationship that required two people.
