When Does Being Patient Become Carrying the Relationship?

I have been in a relationship where I slowly realized that I was doing most of the emotional work. I was usually the one starting difficult conversations, making plans, checking in, trying to resolve disagreements, and finding ways to keep the relationship moving forward. My partner would say they loved me, but their actions did not always match their words. I kept telling myself that relationships are not always 50/50 and that people go through difficult seasons. But eventually I started wondering whether I was being patient or simply carrying a relationship that required two people.

What they are asking:

How do you know when you are being patient with someone versus when you are doing the work of two people?
